“You need a list,” they said. “The money is in the list,” they said. “You need an autoresponder,” they said. So you purchased an autoresponder; you added an opt-in box on your website; you have a couple of subscribers; now what?
Is your content finding its way to your target audience?
Even though you have a thorough content marketing plan, you may actually be missing some people, simply because of the format you’re presenting. Scientists and psychologists have studied the ways people learn for dozens of years and they have documented four different types of learning: What holds most coaches back from publishing? It’s not a lack of writing talent. It’s definitely not a lack of knowledge. And for sure it’s not a lack of desire.
If you asked most coaches why they have not finished their book, the answer is simple: time. Coaches are busy people. You have clients to serve, a business to run, a family to care for. Not only that, but you’re spending time creating new training courses, marketing on social media, managing your team…the list is nearly endless. When would you have time to write an entire book? It doesn't matter what type of business you have you already have everything you need to create passive income programs. If you have any type of online business it is likely that you engage in content marketing. You likely already create content for your blog and maybe you even have a short report as a freebie for email newsletter sign ups. Maybe you even have a regularly sent out email newsletter.
You probably even send educational information to your audience in the form of curated content that answers questions or by outright answering your audience's questions about your niche. You probably also have social media content for Facebook.com and perhaps even Youtube.com. All of this content that you create can be repurposed into passive income streams. Got a tiny list? You’re not alone. In fact, every single one of the most successful, “have it all” entrepreneurs once had a tiny list. Marie Forleo, Carrie Wilkerson, Denise Duffield-Thomas—they all begin with a single subscriber, just like you did.
But they didn’t let it hold them back. They didn’t commit any of the 3 mistakes that are right now causing you to waste time and leave money on the table, so why are you?
Here’s the number one question I hear—not only from new product creators, but even from seasoned business owners: “How do I find a good idea?”
What they really mean, of course, is “How do I find an idea that will sell?” No one wants to spend days or weeks or more planning, developing and launching a course only to hear crickets on the big day. You want to know you’ll have at least some measure of success. But don’t overthink it. The answer is simple. Just give your audience what they are asking for. |
